AMD Processor
AMD 9004 Series EPYC 4th Gne
The Dell PowerEdge R7625 Rack server supports up to two AMD EPYC 4th Generation 9004 Series with up to 128 cores per processor. The CPU has enhanced performance with 32MBs of L3 cache per core. Integrated I/O support for up to 128 lanes with PCI Express 5 on Dell platforms (AMD supports up to 160 I/O lanes with 2P). Perfect for the High-performance Computing (HPC) Workloads.
Cooling Options
The R7625 has two cooling options, Air cooling or Direct Liquid Cooling (DLC) for the AMD Processors. If your system has air cooling it will have up to six High-performance Silver or High-Performance Gold hot plug fans. All GPUs need the Gold Fans installed and an L-Type Heat sink installed. The Standard heat sink is too tall.
Direct Liquid Cooling (DLC)
The Optional Direct Liquid Cooling (DLC) is for required CPU SKU and/or configurations. With the DLC installed the 12 Bay Chassis will need Gold Fans installed. Also, any Socket of 400W TDP must use the DLC for cooling. 400W TDP CPUs will need the DLC. When installing the DLC you must take note of what DIMM is installed as well as what chassis. Not all systems support the DLC. Please read the Tech Manual below for all the details. There are a lot of limitations for the DLC, please read the manuals and check out the "Thermal Restriction Matrix" for more rules and guidance.
Supported Memory
Dell PowerEdge R7626 DIMMs
The R7625 supports up to 24 DIMMs (12 per socket), with up to 6 TB of memory and speeds of up to 4800 MT/s.
The R7625 support registered (RDIMMs) which use a buffer to reduce memory loading and provide greater density, allowing for the maximum platform memory capacity. Unbuffered DIMMs (UDIMMs) are not supported.
Memory Guidelines
- Supports registered ECC DDR5 DIMMs only
- DDR4 DIMM memory is not supported.
- Memory DIMM slots are not hot-pluggable.
- Do not mix DIMM module types within a memory channel
- All must be RDIMM or 3DS RDIMM module types with same ECC configuration.
- Do not mix x4 and x8 DIMMs with a memory channel.

Storage Controllers
Dell’s RAID controller options offer performance improvements, including the fPERC solution. fPERC provides a base RAID HW controller without consuming a PCIe slot by using a small form factor and high-density connector to the base planar. There are cabling guides in the Manuals below for more information on how to set these up.
Boot Option
The system supports a Hot-Swappable Boot Device (BOSS-N1) which holds 2x M.2 NVMe SSD cards.
The system also has a slot for an Internal USB stick for booting as well. For more detailed information about the Boot Options, please read the manual below.
